Buckingham Swimming Pools (1)
Bromsgrove Leisure Centre was a new build project next door to the current, very old, leisure centre in the town centre.
The main pool was 25.00m long and 12.50m wide with a 1.00m shallow end and 2.00m deep end following the approved Sport England profile.
The learner pool was 15.00m long and 10.00m wide with an overall depth of 2.10m but with a moving floor giving a variable depth between 0.00m and 1.50m deep.
The brief for Buckingham Pools was to design, install and construct a main pool and teaching pool for a new, large leisure centre. There had been a pool consultant on the scheme for the tender stage to ensure all bids were like for like but once contracted we progressed the design further to completion.
The disabled access platform on the main pool is a great feature that provides a very simple and dignified point of entry to the swimming pool.
The learner pool has a moving floor over its full area which means that many types of classes can be held in the one pool thus improving its usability.
